Montevideo - DAY 1 - 17/1/25

Yesterday was my first full day in Montevideo and unfortunately, I woke up incredibly sick :(

Fortunately, Astrid suggested a great cough medicine that has been helping a lot. Despite being sick, I was still able to venture out to a bakery that was 3 blocks away with Astrid. it was ok, things had been sitting out for a while by the time we got there, so it wasn’t the freshest. One thing I’ve learned within the last few days of traveling is that the orange juice in the US SUCKS! I had OJ on the flight to Montevideo, then I got some at the bakery. Both were rich and nectary without being too sweet.

After eating our pastries, Astrid and I walked along the Rambla, the boulevard that runs along the water, AKA, the prettiest street in Montevideo. Palm trees, beaches, lesbians making out (not just us haha.) We got churros as we cut through Parque Rodó on the way to Astrid’s.

After hanging out at Astrid’s for a bit, we went to get some burgers at a little food stand in the park. There was a lot of cool graffiti in the park, including a poem that said “La culpa enferma a la mente, y la mente enferma al cuerpo, Perdona-te” I’m gonna be thinking about that for a while.

We ate our burgers, got some ice cream, and parted ways. The sun was setting by the time I got home so I went to bed fairly early. I took some ambien to help me sleep and it was a wild ride. I ended up sleeping almost 11 hours tho, which was good because I needed rest.
